HOW RESONETICS SECURED A CEO FOR THEIR FIRM IN SWITZERLAND

The new CEO will be joining the Resonetics team based out of Switzerland.
REASON FOR THE SEARCH
TCR’s portfolio company Resonetics had made an add-on acquisition in Europe and needed a European CEO to lead the company’s growth, support the integration into the new entity, and drive growth through implementing a proactive sales culture into the business.

Resonetics is a global leader in advanced engineering, prototyping, product development, and micro-manufacturing. They collaborate with their customers to enable them to quickly develop breakthrough medical products to expand the possibilities of medical technology and improve patient care worldwide. They are flexible to the needs of their customers and can support projects at any level, from initial concept to design prototyping and high-volume manufacturing.
They are specialists in solving complex problems that enable their MedTech customers to bring innovative new products to the life sciences market and improve healthcare around the world.

WHY RAW SELECTION
Resonetics had not worked with Raw Selection previously but came to us via an introduction from a Private Equity client we have worked with extensively in California.
This search came with two key challenges: firstly, Resonetics had just made an offer prior to Raw Selection’s involvement, but the candidate had declined the offer after deliberating for some time, so speed was of the essence. Secondly, they needed a profile with the capability to report to a US-based CEO and transition a 6-month handover from the founder of the business who was very hands-on in the company.
This was an important process for Resonetics, and with the new acquisition complete, Swiss notice periods typically being 3 months from the end of the quarter, they needed to move quickly. Raw Selection was put in touch by a client of ours to Resonetics, and we already had the perfect candidate within our network.
The candidate was fast-tracked through the process, being submitted to Resonetics within hours of the search details being taken down. It took 2 weeks for the interview process to be completed and for the candidate to be secured as the new European CEO.
THE PROCESS
To secure the candidate, Raw Selection followed their extensive 15-step process to ensure a great match was found for the vacancy.
Upon starting this search, Raw Selection’s managing partner worked closely with the hiring manager and other key team members to build out a full picture of the company, the employees, the culture, and exactly the type of profile that was needed to succeed in this position.
Raw Selection followed their extensive 15-step search process, identifying 11 potential profiles, which were then cut down to a shortlist of 1, who was fully interviewed and measured for culture fit, and subsequently hired for the role.
THE CANDIDATE
Laurent Bataillard had the experience of working for a direct competitor of Resonetics’ European add-on acquisition Medelec. He knew of the previous owners and had a very good understanding of the product range and the business's strengths and weaknesses.
Laurent had worked for several Medical Device component manufacturers, driving revenue growth and operational improvements in each role he had. He had the experience of managing P+L and was very local to the site in Switzerland.
We knew Laurent would be an exceptional fit for Medelec and Resonetics to lead their European division and support Resonetics' further expansion.
