REASON FOR THE SEARCH
Tritec, an industry leader in the provision of sensors and tools for ROVs and AUVs, needed a BDM to substantiate the large growth they had been experiencing from their new acquisition in Houston.

Tritec is a high-technology business dedicated to providing the most reliable imaging and ancillary equipment for use in underwater applications.
Tritec is a part of Moog Inc., a worldwide designer, manufacturer, and integrator of precision control components and systems. Moog offers a host of products and solutions for the Oil & Gas industry, as well as being a provider of high-performance control systems for the aerospace, medical, and wider marine and energy markets.
THE SEARCH REQUIREMENTS
- Sealing technology experience
- Experience in the market of: OEM - ATV, Power Tools, Drives, Robotics, Pumps, Heavy Ind, Vacuum Pump, Motors, Compressors, Gearboxes, Power Tools, Sprayers, Hydraulics
- BDM and Sales experience
WHY RAW SELECTION
Tritec was on the lookout for a new business development manager to join their team due to the large amount of growth they had sustained from their new acquisitions. They wanted to find someone who not only fit the search requirements but someone who was a good cultural fit.
The search for the role of Business Development Manager for this portfolio company was significant due to the specialty of the Sealing Technology experience needed by the candidate. The main challenge for this search was meeting the specific requirements that were provided. However, Raw Selection is proven in completing difficult searches across Europe and North America.
THE PROCESS
To secure the candidate, Raw Selection followed their extensive 15-step process to ensure a great match was found for the vacancy.
Alex Rawlings, the Managing Partner of Raw Selection, led this search and worked closely with Edgewater to build out a full picture of the firm, company, culture, and requirements in order to provide them with the best talent possible.
Raw Selection commenced every search by discussing and understanding the full search requirement and brief. Raw Selection followed our extensive 15-step search process, identifying multiple potential profiles which were then cut down to a shortlist of 3 candidates, all of whom had been fully interviewed and measured for culture fit.
This role took Raw Selection only 7 weeks to fill, which was definitely a great success for us, and also Edgewater and Tritec, and the successful candidate was hired within the early parameters of the time limits we were given for this position.
THOUGHTS ON THE SEARCH
Lance, VP of Sales, and Marcus, CEO, have incredibly high standards for salespeople to join the business. A need for product and industry expertise as a standard, but a key requirement for them to have a high competency in sales, territory management, and business development, made this search a difficult one. As I am sure most people would agree, most salespeople cannot sell effectively. With a tight talent pool of only 50 candidates with sealing technology and industry experience, we managed to identify 3 candidates that fit the bill with strong commercial acumen, sealing technology product knowledge, and a strong network of OEM customers in the US.
